Built on the service and dedication of our elders, we strive to ensure that every person who enters these sacred doors feels at ease and leaves with a sense of peace and contentment.
We aim to embody the Prophetic teaching that a believer is one from whom others are safe in word and action — serving as a place of benefit, unity, and goodwill for all.
Our Imams
Qari Safiullah Samady
Resident Imam, Director
Qari Safiullah Samady has served as the spiritual leader of Masjid Muhajireen for over three decades, making him the longest-tenured Imam in our Masjid's history. A graduate of Naderia High School, he earned a degree in the Faculty of Science from Kabul University in 1980 and later became one of the youngest chemistry professors in the university's history.
In 1987, he came to America as a refugee, working various jobs, including as a taxi driver, while independently memorizing the Noble Qur'an to help meet the growing needs of the community. In 1993, he led the first Taraweeh prayers at Masjid Muhajireen.
Since 1992, Qari Safiullah has served as the Masjid's lead Resident Imam, dedicating his life to its spiritual growth and community development. Widely respected by Imams throughout the Bay Area and beyond, he has become the heartbeat of Masjid Muhajireen through his unwavering leadership, compassion, and service. By the grace of Allah, he continues to lead with the same energy and commitment, ensuring the Masjid remains a vibrant center for faith, learning, and community for generations to come.
Imam Mohibullah Samady
Resident Imam & Managing Director
Born and raised in the Bay Area, California, Imam Mohibullah Samady began his spiritual journey early in life, finishing the memorization of the Qur'an at the age of 15 under the guidance of Mufti Mudathir Oovais. He has studied with various local scholars, both in the Bay Area and abroad, deepening his understanding of Islamic sciences and community needs.
Having grown up in this community from childhood until now, Imam Mohibullah has built strong relationships with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, from children to teenagers to elders. His dedication to serving and nurturing the community is evident in his efforts to create a welcoming environment at Masjid Muhajireen.
Currently residing in Hayward, California, with his wife and young child, Imam Mohibullah serves as a resident Imam and Managing Director, managing and overseeing all Masjid affairs. He is committed to leaving a lasting legacy, ensuring that the Masjid remains a place of learning, connection, and growth for generations to come.
Mufti Rohullah Bayanzai
Resident Scholar
Born and raised in the Bay Area, California, Mufti Rohullah Bayanzai shifted his early ambitions from a promising career in basketball to pursue deep religious studies. After memorizing the Qur'an and beginning his Islamic studies in the Bay Area, he furthered his education abroad. Spending six years at Dar al-Uloom Azaadville in South Africa, he completed an extensive curriculum in Islamic sciences, which included studies in Arabic grammar, Islamic jurisprudence, Qur'an exegesis, and Hadith. He also received advanced certification in issuing Islamic legal rulings within the Hanafi Madhab.
Currently residing in Union City, CA with his wife and three children, Mufti Rohullah serves as a resident scholar at Masjid Muhajireen teaching and conducting programs weekly.
